The Executive Director of the Geneva Institute for Human Rights, Mr. Nizar Abdelkader Saleh, held a meeting with the President of the National Council for Human Rights of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Ihab Gamal El-Din, as part of efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of protecting and promoting human rights at the regional and international levels.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of the work and development of the Geneva Institute for Human Rights. The Executive Director gave a detailed presentation on the Institute’s mission, its main training and academic programs, its activities aimed at building the capacities of human rights workers, as well as its current projects and future plans to expand cooperation and partnerships with national, regional, and international institutions. These efforts contribute to spreading a culture of human rights and strengthening mechanisms for their protection.
The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Institute and the National Council for Human Rights, including the exchange of expertise and the implementation of joint programs and initiatives that support human rights issues in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the region.
For his part, the President of the National Council for Human Rights stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation with specialized international institutions. He praised the role of the Geneva Institute for Human Rights in training and capacity building and in raising awareness of international human rights standards.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between the two sides, in a way that contributes to developing joint initiatives and programs, promoting respect for human rights, and strengthening the principles of human dignity and the rule of law.
The meeting was attended by Council members, Mr. Mohamed Othman, Mr. Alaa Shalaby, and Mr. Nasser Abou El-Eyoun, as well as Dr. Islam Rihan from the Council’s Technical Secretariat.
