Launch of the Geneva Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs RegionalCourse on the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism.

The Geneva Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, will launch, on Friday, 7
November 2025, the Regional Advanced Training Course on the Universal Periodic Review
(UPR) mechanism, held in parallel with the 50th session of the UPR, at the United Nations
Office in Geneva. This session will review the national reports of Libya, Jamaica, Croatia,
Honduras, and the Marshall Islands.
The five-day training course brings together participants from several Middle East and North
Africa (MENA) region countries, under the supervision of a distinguished team of experts.
The program focuses on the fourth cycle of the UPR mechanism, the strengthening of civil
society’s role in engaging with United Nations mechanisms and includes participation at the
discussion of Libya’s fourth periodic report.
This initiative is an integral part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to enhance the capacities of
non-governmental organizations and national human rights institutions in the MENA region,
and to promote the values of citizenship, equality, and human dignity.
The Geneva Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, is an independent non-
governmental organization, established in 2004, and enjoys consultative status with the United
Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
