The course will run for five days at the\u00a0Institute\u2019s headquarters\u00a0and the\u00a0United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland.<br>The training brings together participants from\u00a0government institutions, national human rights institutions, and civil society organizations, and is conducted by a\u00a0distinguished group of expert trainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The program of the regional course covers several key topics, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0Human Rights Council\u00a0and the\u00a0Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism, with a special focus on the latest developments of its fourth cycle;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0national mechanism for report preparation and follow-up on recommendations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessing and using UPR-related information online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the program includes attendance at the\u00a0discussion of Libya\u2019s national report\u00a0and\u00a0meetings with experts from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).<br>This regional training course is part of the\u00a0Geneva Institute\u2019s strategy and action plan\u00a0to defend human rights, citizenship, and universal humanitarian values, and to promote human rights as a means to achieve positive change from within societies.<br>Founded in\u00a0July 2004, the\u00a0Geneva Institute for Human Rights (GIHR)\u00a0is a\u00a0non-governmental organization\u00a0with\u00a0consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is an independent institution dedicated to raising awareness and building capacity in the field of human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The Institute strives to\u00a0integrate the principles of equality, dignity, and respect\u00a0into public policies and practices at all levels of governance.
