Deadline to apply for CEDAW course extended

The Geneva Institute for Human Rights has extended the deadline to
apply for its training session on the workings of the Committee on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) until
August 31.

The Institute would also like prospective applicants to know that the
session has been postponed. It will now take place from October 3-7,
not October 12-21. This will allow the program's schedule to coincide
with that of the 50th session of CEDAW, which will discuss a report on
Kuwait on October 13, and the 103rd session of the Human Rights
Committee, which will also discuss its second periodic report on
Kuwait on October 20 and 21.

Please note that course fees are 1000 Swiss francs for NGOs and
national human rights institutes, not including additional costs for
travel expenses, accommodation, food, and internal transport in
Geneva. However, the GIHR has arranged a contract with a three-star
hotel, which can offer participants a single room, breakfast, and
internal transport for 150 Swiss francs per night, including tax.

Those interested in attending the session are invited to send an email
to training [at] gihr [dot] org along with a recent photograph, passport copy,
and endorsement from two NGOs with consultative status with the United
National Economic and Social Council.

The Geneva Institute for Human Rights is a non-governmental and
non-profit organization based in Geneva. Since its founding in 2004,
the GIHR has offered training services for human rights defenders and
public institutions throughout North Africa and the Middle East,
enabling them to better understand and engage with the procedures,
criteria, and mechanisms of international human rights. The GIHR also
provides consulting and research services that protect the rights of
individuals, with a particular focus on women, children, and disabled
persons in Africa and the Arab world.
