Jordan: Training course in human rights for police officers

In cooperation with the Jordanian Directorate of General Security, the Geneva Institute for Human Rights organized a training course on human rights mechanisms for police officers in the Kingdom of Jordan. The course took place from July 25 to 27 in the Royal Police Academy and targeted officers from multiple departments within the Directorate of General Security.

The program was designed to familiarize trainees with the concepts and terminology of human rights, the legal framework of human rights, and international mechanisms to protect human rights, including United Nations and international standards and the Convention against Torture. Trainers placed special emphasis on the role of police in the promotion and dissemination of a culture of human rights.
