Trainings and workshops

25-29 January 2010- GIHR organized an advanced training course on the the role of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women addressing participants from Syria, Egypt Tunisia and Morocco.
In conjunction with training, GIHR has also delivered capacity building and advocacy services to 5 members of the Syrian Ministry of Family affairs, in order to strenghten their capacity to effectively protect the rights of individuals with a special focus on women and children.

15-19 February 2010- GIHR organized a training course on the role of the United Nations Working Group of the Human Rights Council on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
GIHR also provided consultations and assistance members of the Egyptian NGO Arab Penal Reform Organization (APRO) on the review of Egypt by the UPR, providing technical and informational services.

11 March 2010 GIHR in collaboration with Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights Association in Cairo – Egypt – organized a workshop on “Strengthening the capacity of civil society to monitor the outputs of the universal periodic review"

Participation in UN sessions and conferences

11-29 January 2010- Participation in the 53rd session of the CRC, Committe in the rights of the child.

18 January-5 February 2010 - Participation in the 45th CEDAW Session, coinciding with the review of the reports of Egypt and UAE.
GIHR delegation was also joined by participants from Syria, Egypt,Tunisia and Morocco.

25-29 January 2010 – Participation in the 4th session of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council

8-19 February 2010- Participation in the 7th session of the UPR, conciding with the with review of the reports of Egypt and Iraq. GIHR delegation was joined by participants from Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia and Palestine.

18 February 2010 - Participation in the organizational meeting of the Human Rights Council

22-26 February 2010- Participation in the 3rd session of the Committe on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

24-26 February 2010- Participation in the 4th World Congress on Death Penalty organized by the The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.

01- 17 March 2010 - Participation in the 13th session of the Human Rights Council

GIHR published 4 posters on the follow up of the UPR accepted recommendations on: Bahrain; Tunisia; Morocco and Algeria
